Closing of the Bones Ceremony

"Thanks To the ancient ones, those who have kept the wisdom of Sacred Cycles alive long enough for us to remember them once more..."

Closing-16_edited.jpg

Life has many cycles for women. Being pregnant and giving birth is one of the biggest ones. This year of conception, carrying, birthing and recuperating in the fourth trimester is one heck of a journey.

Closing those bones that have expanded so rapidly during the nine months that you were carrying your baby. Closing them physically, energetically and spiritually. Allowing yourself to be reborn.

Gifting yourself a ceremony will be a huge healing present.

How does it work?

The core of each ceremony is the same, but the energy and unique gifts of the different women who come to support you will make it one of a kind.

The ceremony will work best with at least 3 other women coming to support and hold space for you. These women will be people you are comfortable with, that you love and respect, women you are happy to receive love from.

We organise everything - dates, emails, what to bring, who reads what, what food to bring, herbs, flowers, oils and scarfs. Everything.

We begin by welcoming everyone into the space, gathering gifts, herbs and food, and creating a small altar to honour you and your ancestors. Herbs, oils, salts and flowers brought by your space holders are prepared into a healing bath while we ground together, introduce ourselves, set intentions and boundaries, and listen to the mother’s story.

The mother is then invited to soak in the bath, or receive a foot bath if preferred, while each person enters in turn to gently wash her and offer loving words, blessings and wisdom. You may stay clothed if that feels more comfortable.

After the bath, we begin a focused belly massage using a specially blended healing oil. The massage is done inwardly, symbolically returning energy back to you, releasing held tension, knots, and what may still be resting in the body after birth or trauma. This part is offered only by a trained facilitator.

We then move into the wrapping: each part of the body is gently gathered and closed using scarves or rebozos, moving the energy before each wrap. You are welcome to bring fabrics that hold personal meaning. Being wrapped in this way is deeply emotional, grounding, and powerful.

While wrapped, according to your wishes, you may receive healing, blessing, cleansing, silence, or words read aloud - all offered with intention and care. When you feel ready, (family may return) and we share food together, nourishing body as well as soul.

To protect the mother’s quiet inner space, babies are usually cared for outside the ceremony, though breastfeeding babies or specific needs are always lovingly accommodated 🤍
